Kyoshi Daniel Schroeder

Our Chief Instructor, Master Dan Schroeder, is a 8th degree black belt in the art of Shorin Ryu Karate and a Roku-Dan (6th degree black belt) in Okinawan Kobudo (weapons instruction).

Master Schroeder has over 40 years of martial arts experience. He started his training in 1964 under the watchful and demanding eyes of  Sensei Ken Kasianowicz in the Goshin-do style of Karate.  In 1969 Master Schroeder opened his first dojo (karate school) in Waukesha and started teaching Goshin-do karate with his instructors permission.  In the early 70's Master Schroeder started training in Shorin Ryu Karate under his present instructor, Master Tadashi Yamashita.

In 1983, Master Schroeder opened a branch studio in Hales Corners called the East West Connection.  He operated both dojo's until 1985 when he decided to devote all his attention to the East West Connection.

Master Schroeder's credentials are impressive.

*More than 40 years karate experience (8th degree)

*Holds the rank of 6th degree black belt in kubudo.

*Earned the title of Kyoshi (Teacher)

*Head of the Yamashita Shorin Ryu System in  Wisconsin

*Highest ranking student under Master Yamashita

*Promoted over 45 quality black belts.

Master Schroeder is now the highest ranking student in our system under Master Yamashita and was awarded the title of Kyoshi by Master Yamashita.  Master Schroeder has received Dan ranking in three systems - 2nd degree in Goshin-do Karate, 8th degree in Shorin Ryu Karate and 6th degree in Okinawan Kobudo.  In addition to this, Master Schroeder has studied Kendo (Japanese Fencing) under Sensei Vince Gibbens for two years.

Master Schroeder's background in karate enables him to teach practical self defense movements that will work within a short period of training.  His years in the study of karate can keep serious student learning for years to come.

Master Schroeder believes in the traditions and values of the martial arts.  "It is very important to train ones mind and body, but it is much more important to train ones heart".
